We are looking for someone with an interest in international affairs and a desire to gain experience in the Not-For-Profit sector to volunteer in our office as a Web Developer. We are seeking someone who can commit to 2-3 days per week.

ABOUT US

Mahboba’s Promise is an Australian non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting the disadvantaged women, widows, children and orphans of Afghanistan. Since 1998, Mahboba’s Promise has established schools, shelters and health clinics across Afghanistan and provided numerous sponsorship's to widows and orphans in need.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of the role you will undertake tasks including:

• Developing our new website using CMS WordPress
• Website and software application designing, building, or maintaining
• Using scripting or authoring languages, management tools, content creation tools, applications and digital media.
• Editing, writing and designing website content
• Identifying problems uncovered by customer feedback and testing, and correcting or referring problems to appropriate personnel for correction

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The ideal candidate will have:

• Prior experience in CMS WordPress
• Bachelor degree in Web development or related field, or relevant experience
• Solid knowledge and experience in programming applications
• Proficient in JavaScript, HTML, CSS
• Solid ability in both written and verbal communication
• Knowledge of programming language and technical terminology
• Able to solve complex problems.
• Proficiency in English
• Proficiency in Persian 
• An interest in international affairs and development, the not-for profit sector and/or Afghanistan and its development context.

This is an unpaid, voluntary position. Volunteers of Mahboba’s Promise are covered by our public liability insurance.
