The Salvation Army (TSA) Craigieburn Doorways program provides short-term financial support (in the form of food parcels and vouchers) to local people in urgent crisis. We also offer financial counselling, NILS loans, spiritual direction and referrals to other local organisations.

The role of the volunteer Community Collections Driver is to provide safe and reliable transport to collect donations including food, clothing, homewares and gifts from various donation points across the community and to deliver and unload themat the appropriate destination.   A reasonable level of fitness is required for this role as it requires lifting/moving donated items.

The Tasks Associated with the Role Include

  • Pick-up and delivery service, providing a quality transport service
  • Keep customers and donors informed and updated on agreed delivery/collection times
  • Assist to load and unload goods to and from the vehicle and ensure they are moved to the correct unpacking area in a safe manner
  • Be prompt, courteous and respectful when interacting with others
  • Quality control of donations
  • Sorting Donations

Personal Qualities/Attributes Required for the Role

  • Experience in a similar role such as furniture removal advantageous, but not essential
  • Punctual and reliable with a friendly and positive disposition
  • Able to work in a team and autonomously when required
  • A respect and willingness to work within the ethos of The Salvation Army

Mandatory Requirements of the Role

  • Previous experience driving, maintain a current driver's licence applicable to vehicle type
  • Complete The Salvation Army's volunteer registration process
  • Complete The Salvation Army induction modules and any other training as required
  • Criminal History Check (Police Check) and Working With Children Check and any other integrity checks as required for the role

Time Commitment

Various shifts available on Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursday, 9am to 12pm, please advise your availability in your expression of interest.
