Break Away Cafe Volunteer - Volunteering Macarthur
Break The CycleThe Break Away Cafe is an important first point of contact for many clients and you will need to have a warm, welcoming and accepting presence to encourage building of supportive relationships within a Christian ethos for new clients and regulars alike.
The Cafe operates Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9am to 1pm.
Your Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Basic Food Safety knowledge. An awareness of basic food hygiene requirements including food service, handling & production. Further training will be provided.
- Customer service and care experience
- Cash handling
- Eagerness to learn all aspects of the Cafe catering operation
- Flexibility - the ability to work alone, as part of a team and with the public in a rapidly changing environment
- You will have a cheerful nature, good interpersonal skills and are able to communicate with a diverse range of people
Job Responsibilities
- Assist to serve food, clear tables and use the dishwasher
- Ensure that bins are emptied, kitchen cleaned including equipment, floors, walls and work surfaces
- Ensure a safe work environment for colleagues and visitors in accordance with Work, Health & Safety policy
- Menu planning, preparing and cooking meals
- Cash handling
- Work as part of a Christian team
- Follow Break the Cycle's policies and procedures
- Work within child safe and vulnerable adult guidelines
- Infection Control: Infection Prevention & Control is the responsibility of all volunteers and staff
