Our volunteers are highly valued members of our team, providing transport to client families who have reached out for assistance. Transport is a common barrier for vulnerable Logan families in getting around the community, accessing vital services and attending important appointments. Our volunteer drivers assist passengers to travel from their family home to appointments (such as group education, medical appointments, counselling, shopping).

We are looking for individuals who have a strong interest in helping others. Our “Driver” volunteers need to have an open mind, great communication skills, a non-judgemental approach and a commitment to calm and safety on the roads. Volunteers must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries, be responsible in communicating any concerns, and be reliable and mature. IFSS also requires that our volunteers hold a current QLD open driver's licence, be eligible for a Blue Card, and be aged over 21years.

We are seeking volunteers who have the time and energy to commit to the role once a week on a casual basis for a minimum 9 months. Volunteers utilise a business vehicle for client transport. To perform the role safely and efficiently they are supported by a designated volunteer coordinator, attend training and regular supervision, and relevant risk and safety measures are followed.

Volunteering with IFSS provides opportunity for skill development, building networks and meeting new people, and giving back to the community in a welcoming and supportive workplace. IFSS is able to provide a volunteer reference following 3months of active volunteering with the organisation.
