Assistant Coach: SportsUnited Supporting Success Program

Volunteer Assistant coaches will help to facilitate SportsUnited sports programs as planned by the Head Coach. SportsUnited programs are facilitated in many locations around South Australia including CBD Adelaide through to the Barossa region. There are a number of sports involved - it varies depending on the needs of the school or local community we are working with. However sports generally include soccer, football, netball and basketball.

Core responsibilities of Assistant Coach

  • Facilitate rostered coaching sessions
  • Support the provision of a safe playing environment for all volunteers and participants
  • Attend volunteer program training when required
  • Review program guides and materials created by the Head Coach to assist with session delivery
  • Communicate frequently with Head Coach when required
  • Review information for upcoming programs
  • Ensure the purpose of the organisation and its actions is clearly communicated

Assistant Coaches need to be enthusiastic, committed, organised and flexible when working within various population groups.

Population groups consist of adolescents and children with an intellectual disability, culturally and linguistically diverse individuals, children from low SES areas and elderly individuals.
