Background

All Together Now is an Australian, independent, secular, non-partisan not-for-profit organisation that was established in 2010. All Together Now’s vision is for a racially equitable Australia. We seek to achieve this by imagining and delivering innovative and evidence based projects that promote racial equity. We are community driven, we utilise partnered approaches, and our work is intersectional.

The objective of the volunteer Media Analyst will be to survey the manner in which race is reported in mainstream media through monitoring, collecting and analysing relevant media sources. • Seek out and examine mainstream media reports in the area of racism and anti-racism, with a focus on Australian content.
  • Analyse reports or broadcasts in accordance with All Together Now’s Media Framework.
  • Code and archive media reports.

Selection Criteria:

  • Passionate about anti-racism or related human rights topics (e.g. asylum seeker rights, Indigenous rights, migrant rights, gender rights).
  • Interested in current affairs with the ability to analyse media reports through a social justice lens.
  • Ability and willingness to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Writing, analysis and communication skills with good attention to detail.
  • Computer literate, with a knowledge of Google Files and Forms.
