Sydney Heritage Fleet Grants Team Sydney Heritage Fleet is a volunteer organisation which restores, preserves and operates Australian maritime heritage. The Fleet receives no state or federal recurrent funding and its grant-writing activities are therefore critical.

Our grants team needs some additional grant writers. Can you help?

Learning to become successful grant writer is a valuable and marketable skill set.

We will:

• Provide training in grant-writing from our own resources and from appropriate webinars.
• Provide a 'buddy' for each application you are involved with
• Give you a comprehensive induction to the Fleet
• Provide coaching and quality assurance for all grant applications
• Celebrate your successes
• Teach you to use online application tools like SmartyGrants.

Your capabilities:

• Succinct and persuasive writing
• Able to analyse published grant criteria and draft insightful responses
• Able to work to deadlines
• Basic research skills

Your commitment:

• Three to four hours each week including attending weekly team meeting
• To attend induction and training sessions
• To become a member of the Sydney Heritage Fleet and pay annual subscriptions
• To provide your own computer with webcam and internet connection.

SHF receives several grants a year from private and public sources and would like to expand both the scope and the number of applications.

Fundraising or grant-writing experience is welcome but not a requirement. A willingness to learn and a positive outlook is essential.

Grant-writing is a powerful skill that once learnt can be applied pretty much anywhere. It’s fun too!

Ideally a commitment of about a half day a week would be great; more if you can, less if you can’t. It’s up to you. Reporting through the grants team to the Fundraising Committee, you will be involved with a dedicated and experienced group of people in a very worthwhile program that you can be proud of. We work from Wharf 7, Pyrmont and from our homes.
