Movie Night Volunteer – Ryde· 3.5 hours a month

Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA) is a leading for purpose organisation committed to ensuring ongoing empowerment and independence for people living with a spinal cord injury.  We are passionate about continually improving our services and providing maximum opportunity for those whose lives are affected by spinal cord injury.

The Peer Support team work in the spinal injury units to help people who are newly injured regain their independence, adjust to life with an injury and improve their overall wellbeing. The team offer a range of services. Once such service includes monthly movie nights.

SCIA is seeking volunteers to run a monthly movie nights in Royal Rehab Spinal Unit. ·

Responsibilities of this volunteer role will include:· - Set up the movie on a monthly basis - Greet and liaise with participants and families - Organise food and assist with service· - Clean up at the end of each event

To volunteer in the role, you will have: - Respect for people with disabilities - Good verbal communication skills - Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times - Interest in movies - Patience and the ability to remain calm Experience volunteering is ideal but not essential.

The volunteer role is for 3 hours per month from 5:30 – 9:00pm at either Prince of Wales, Randwick or Royal Rehab, Ryde.

Volunteers with SCIA are required to complete a criminal background check and a 1 hour unit of online NDIS training as well as signing a confidentiality agreement. All volunteers need to adhere to the SCIA Code of Conduct and respect the procedures in the hospital in which they volunteer.

All volunteers will be interviewed before begining the role.
