Meals on Wheels – The Sustenance Project Are you naturally a people person with a desire to make a difference for people who are socially isolated?

‘The Sustenance Project’ is a Commonwealth Home Support Program Innovation Funded, Social Connection Project of Meals on Wheels South Australia. The aim of the project is to trial a number of strategies to alleviate isolation and loneliness amongst mainly older people who are at risk of chronic isolation.

The Sustenance Project is seeking suitably capable ‘special’ volunteers who preferably have a natural ability to communicate and interact with all sorts of people. This project is primarily catering to older people who live independently in their own homes or retirement villages. We anticipate between 2 and 6 hours per week of volunteering. This volunteering opportunity is separate to the normal kitchen or meal deliveries that most people associate with volunteering at Meals on Wheels

All training provided as well as induction to MOW and reimbursement of all travel costs.

We anticipate the special volunteering to start in February 2020.

Preference for Volunteers who :

  1. Have their own vehicle and are licensed to drive.

  2. Aged over 18 years

  3. Live in the wider Adelaide metropolitan area

  4. Have experience working with a wide variety of people

  5. National Police check (at no cost to the volunteer)
