Hills Community Aid is a Not-For-Profit organisation that provides a range of community based services, programs & activities for residents of The Hills Shire and specific services for the wider North West Sydney area.

Hills Community Aid offers free homework & assignment help fro students in years 5 - 12. We require an experienced volunteer tutor/teacher with previous experience of assisting students in a group setting.

This homework group runs every Monday afternoon at Rouse Hill from 3.15pm - 5.30pm. Children bring along their own homework and volunteers are to assist with helping them understand or help them with what they are expected to do. Children are encouraged to do the homework unassisted, but they have those extra eyes and ideas on how to complete if they get stuck.

The homework tutor will support the educational development of students through assistance with homework tasks. The tutor will work both individually and as part of a team providing support and assistance to students under the supervision of staff.

Requirements: Must have a current 'Working with Children Check'. National Police Check required Formal qualifications are not required however any relevant knowledge, skills and/or experience in teaching/tutoring and/or working with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities will be advantageous First aid would be an advantageous

Essential: - High proficiency in verbal and written English - Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to communicate well with children and young people - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Punctuality\, reliability and flexibility - An interest in working with students from CALD background - Demonstrated motivation to commit to a volunteer placement for 6-12 months

Desirable: - Experience teaching children or young people - Experience teaching students from culturally and linguistically diverse background - An understanding of and empathy with people from diverse cultural backgrounds - Understanding of factors affecting students from CALD backgrounds - Reliability\, flexibility\, proactive and patient approach
