What the role entails:

Support the playgroup/creche leader, Family Zone and the range of agencies requesting creche support
Aim to increase children’s safety, education, health and well being while attending creche
With the leader plan implement and review culturally appropriate developmental play and learning experiences for children aged 0 to 6 years of age.
Strengthen parent/caregiver’s understanding of and commitment to meeting early child care and development needs
Model appropriate behaviors and encourage interaction with child(ren)
Identify issues affecting children’s well being and in conjunction with Family Zone staff, refer to external agencies as required.

Flexible week days between 9-5 dependent on creche needs * Best practice volunteer involvement recommends that a volunteer role be a maximum of 15-16 hours per week.

Requirements

Working with Children Check

Successful applicants will be required to hold a satisfactory Department of Human Services ‘Working with Children’ check prior to engaging in creche. Current certification in Safe Environments for Children and Young People ‘Through Their eyes’ is also essential. Support will be offered to attain both of these requirements. Please Note: As each organisation provides different levels/types of insurance, volunteers are reminded to check with the organisation as to the type of insurance provided for volunteers (e.g. Volunteer Personal Accident Insurance)
