Volunteer Settlement Support Worker
Jesuit Social ServicesWe are looking for a volunteer to support the provision of Settlement Services in supporting newly arrived migrant and refugees.
The Settlement Program is a Community Development Program funded by the Department Social Services (DSS). Jesuit Social Services collaborates with newly arrived communities (people who migrated to Australia in the last 5 years), and other local community organisations and services. The program seeks to support the settlement of new and emerging communities through general casework, group information sessions, referral to mainstream services and activities, using a community development and capacity building approach.

OUTLINE OF VOLUNTEER'S RESPONSIBILITIES
- Providing administrative support to the Settlement team in line with program requirements and privacy legislation·
- Providing basic casework support activities to settlement participants including, but not limited to, intake, attending appointments , housing support
- Providing information and support to drop in Settlement participants
- Assisting with organising group work and information sessions for Settlement participants·
- Entering data requirements of the Settlement program in the organisational database
- Taking part in team meetings as required
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED
- Understanding and sympathy with the mission and ethos of Jesuit Social Services
- Valid Working with Children Check card
- Successful Police Check to be conducted by Jesuit Social Services prior to commencement.
- An understanding of the issues facing newly arrived migrants and refugees·
- An understanding of the Settlement sector and services provided to newly arrived migrants and refugees (desirable)
