KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Attend meetings and present financial reports and advice to the Board and Finance & Property Committee regularly.
  2. Review the annual budget prepared by the State Executive Officer and assist where necessary. Present the Budget to the Finance & Property Committee and the Board for approval.
  3. To review monthly financial reports prepared by Girl Guides Tasmania staff.
  4. To monitor variances from budget and advise appropriate action.
  5. To monitor special funds and their dispersal in accordance with their terms.
  6. To oversee the Association’s investment strategy and recommend appropriate action.
  7. To provide assistance to sub-entities on financial matters if requested (and appropriate) and ensure that the accounts of sub-entities are reviewed.
  8. To review yearend financial statements prepared by the State Executive Officer and provide assistance where necessary.
  9. Liaise with the appointed auditors and lead the review of the appointment of an auditor from time to time.
  10. With the State Executive Officer, ensure that the taxation obligations of the Association are met.
  11. To report on the financial position of the Association at the AGM.
  12. To ensure compliance with appropriate legislation and with internal financial policies, ensure that appropriate systems of internal control are in place and complied with.
  13. In conjunction with the State Executive Officer monitor the collection of all revenue.
  14. To submit expense claims for documented expenses.
  15. To prepare for and be prepared to contribute at Board or committee meetings on all matters raised for discussion.
  16. Not to use the position to gain a personal advantage and to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may arise.

SPECIFICITIES Recommended by the State Commissioner at least six months prior to the expiration of their term of office the outgoing Treasurer may make recommendations as to her successor to the State Commissioner.

Appointment is by the Board and the Treasurer is responsible to the Board.

Term is three years. Both the Board and the Treasurer may agree on a further one or two year term.
