The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of City of Boroondara - Volunteer Cooks.

Tasks and Responsibilities - Volunteer Cooks:

  • Prepare their own main meal as part of their usual routine, plating up an extra portion for their selected Diner
  • Deliver the meal to the home of their selected Diner who is located within the local community
  • During delivery (when possible), spend some time chatting with their Diner
  • Participate on a ‘regular’ basis, which could be weekly, fortnightly or monthly, as per mutual agreement with the same selected Diner
  • Notify their Diner when they are unable to make a regular visit

Days, times and regularity of visit are all flexible, by mutual agreement between Cook and Diner. Often our Cooks enjoy trips away - this is fine as long as a Cook clearly communicates their absence to their Diner.

Requirements:

  • National Police Certificate - Will be emailed to Volunteer to complete online
  • Food Safety Quiz - Online and can be completed at home.
  • Signed Volunteer Agreement
  • Child Safety Standards online module The Boroondara Cooks Program Manager will provide support and guidance for online tasks.

Please note that Volunteers Cooks must be aged over 18 years (We do accept community service students; however, students must have constant supervision by a parent or guardian who has met all of the above requirements).

Council recognises the benefits of a diverse volunteer program for its community. To ensure equity of access to volunteer opportunities, Council encourages applications from underrepresented groups, including people from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background and people of different ages, abilities, gender identities, sexual orientations and cultural backgrounds.
