The Broome Community Resource Centre (CRC) offers computing and IT resources to the public. Members of the public use these facilities on a self-service basis. Many are self sufficient, while others require assistance with equipment or software and general IT skills.

The Volunteer Assistant joins our staff to provide:

  • Public computer access support- helping people with accessing our services, including scanning, photocopying, uploading documents and online application help.
  • Operating equipment such as photocopier (adding paper/ toner when required), scanner and laminator.
  • IT support and computer skills such as finding how to do things online, assisting with online application forms.
  • Be connected- a government program empowering over 50's with computer access and knowledge. Teaching basic computer skills.
  • Facilitation of activities and initiatives that create or improve community contentedness and capacity.

The Public use area can be a busy little hub and at other times it can be very quiet - it's unpredictable when people will come in to use the service. Broome CRC staff will be on premises but may be in our meeting room while supervising exams. We would particularly appreciate volunteer assistance during exams so that the public use are can stay open to customers.
