Scouts Australia NSW provides young Aussies aged 6 to 25 with fun and challenging opportunities to grow through adventure. With over 17,000 youth and adult members from various cultural and religious backgrounds and with varying abilities, Scouts is one of the largest and most successful youth organisations in the state.

Today’s Scouts can take part in an extraordinary variety of outdoor activities, from ‘traditional Scouting skills’ such as camping and bush craft, through to more extreme challenges such as abseiling, overnight hiking, rafting, canoeing, canyoning, snow activities, rock climbing, sailing and even flying! Scouts also have the opportunity to become involved in performing arts, leadership development, community service, amateur radio operation, environmental projects, large-scale Australian events such as Cuborees, Jamborees and Ventures, international events, and service projects in developing countries.

At Scouts Australia NSW, we put the needs of young people first. Our youth led, adult supported approach ensures our youth members are always at the forefront of our program and gives them the platform to take a constructive place in society as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.

Scouts NSW are seeking 3 volunteers to assist us by scanning a number of historic personnel record cards and group documents. This will greatly help us with our project and will make access to our historic records more readily available to those researching Scout Group history.

Each volunteer will manage a specific task. We estimate that each task should take around 26 working days (7.5 hour work days - approximately 26 weeks in total) to complete. We hope to commence these tasks in the week starting 1 April 2019. The volunteers will report to the Research Officer for the period of the task.

This role would suit someone looking for administrative or clerical work experience to re-skill or return to the workforce, a former Scout or Guide looking to give back to the Association, or a retiree looking to help to the community. As Scouts NSW is a child related workplace, volunteers are required to hold a valid NSW Working with Children Check by their start date. It would be beneficial to the Association if volunteers, who have a current National Police Check, could provide a copy.

If our volunteers enjoy the task, there could be further opportunities available for similar work over a longer period. A statement of service will be provided to volunteers who assist with this very important project.

Car parking is at a premium at Sydney Olympic Park, so many of our staff and volunteers chose use the Public Transport System to access the office. Scouts NSW Office is within 500 metres of the Sydney Olympic Park transport hub. Scouts NSW is happy to reimburse volunteers for the cost of Public Transport to the State Office. Mobility Parking Scheme Parking spaces are available on site to those who display the Australian Disability Parking Permit.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
