VFRS firefighters undertake a range of responsibilities including combating fires, road crash rescue, hazardous material response and fire safety education. Comprehensive training is provided by DFES career personnel based here in Kununurra and from offices though-out the State. Not all firefighting work involves putting out fires. A wide range on interesting and exciting training opportunities become available to members of our team. The use of DFES vehicles both on and off road, emergency first aid, mental health first aid, radio communications, leadership and emergency management qualifications are just some of the specialized training courses available to volunteers. Most importantly we are also a social and community minded group of people. Representing the brigade by participating in community events such as speedways, concerts, markets, agricultural shows, teddy bears picnics and other similar events also adds the enjoyment of our group.
