Paint the Town REaD Bankstown is holding their annual Community Reading Day on Wednesday September 11th 2019 and they would love some Volunteers to assist with all facets of this event.

More than 20% of Australian children arrive at school without the necessary skills to make the most of their early education and in some communities the figure is much higher. Unfortunately no matter how exceptional their subsequent teaching may be, these children can still fall further and further behind and may struggle with literacy, employment, health and happiness for the rest of their lives.

Paint the Town REaD works to overcome this by motivating communities across Australia to read with their children every day from birth, so that they are ready to learn to read once they begin school.

Volunteers can help on this day in a variety of different ways and with various activities including (but not limited to):

• Set Up and Pack Up
• Singing
• Games
• Reading
• Craft
• Play Activities

Volunteers are needed between 8.30am and 12.30pm and are required to have a current WWCC.
