Visitor Information Volunteer Officer

Duties and Responsibilities: To undertake voluntary assistance to the Kentish Visitor Information Centre and KVIC Coordinator. To undertake, if accepting the responsibility for keys, opening and closing the visitor centre. To be responsible for the management and efficient operation of any Council equipment for which the volunteer is appropriately skilled and trained to use, during the course of exercising duties. Maintain knowledge relevant to the main types of visitor enquiries at Kentish Visitor Information Centre. Understand own personal knowledge limitations and seek further assistance as needed. Provide unbiased and truthful visitor information services. Maintain, support and / or coordinate visitor information dissemination including spoken and written communications, brochure display and centre presentation in an adequate, timely, safe and professional manner. Participate in Kentish area familiarisation visits to accommodation and tourism attractions. Actively participate in the up-selling of Visitor Information Centre retail products and operator services. Participate in active marketing and advocacy of the ‘Kentish’ brand in a professional and consistent manner. Be proactive in improving and developing knowledge relevant to visitor information services. Adequately communicate availability and/or arrange a suitable replacement for pre arranged rostered shifts in consultation with the KVIC Coordinator.
