A core value of the Salvation Army is to support the basic needs of individuals and communities.  The Barista Volunteer role is to create a warm hospitable environment, whilst overseeing the organisation the preparation of hot and cold drinks, ensuring the delivery of quality customer service. Attention to maintaining a clean, safe, hygienic and healthy work environment is critical.

Key Tasks of the Role

  • Turn on the expresso machine and ensure it is clean and ready for service
  • Set up all the hot drink condiments including cups, utensils, milk and related materials
  • Attend to customer requirements and concerns
  • Clean dishes, service area and tables
  • Assist in creating a welcoming, friendly and caring environment
  • Refer people to appropriate Salvation Army services
  • Monitor and rectify any health and safety concerns within the premises

Qualifications and experience requirements for the Role

  •  Barista and/or customer service experience is highly regarded

Mandatory Requirements of the Role

  • Complete TSA’s Volunteer Registration form and sign TSA’s Volunteer Agreement form
  • Complete TSA induction modules and any other training as required
  • Knowledge of work health and safety particularly in a commercial kitchen environment

Roster and Time Commitment

Tuesday & Thursday’s, 10am -1pm.

All volunteers in The Salvation Army are expected to act in accordance with the Australian Territory’s mission and values and comply with The Salvation Army’s Code of Conduct, policies and procedures. These will be provided to you on commencement of your role.

In return, you will receive training and have the opportunity to give back and engage with your local community and be recognised for your hard work.
