Event Assistant Volunteer – Pink Rodeo

Outline of the role: Cancer Council NSW is a community funded, community focused cancer charity dedicated to working towards a cancer free future. There are things that we can all do every day to help make this happen.

The Pink Rodeo event is a fabulous fun filled night of family entertainment hosted by the ABCRA in association with Cancer Council NSW.

Supporting the Northern Team and based at Tamworth, your key accountabilities will include: • Assist in the coordination, preparation and planning of the Pink Rodeo event • Assisting in marketing and promotion of the event • Develop and manage relationships with local stakeholders in line with event objectives • Manage various operational aspects of the event on the night • Development of letters and emails to be sent to participants, venues, suppliers and businesses • Develop media releases and seek media opportunities • Develop marketing material to assist with promotion of the event • Use of social media to build audiences and engage with the community • Assistance with developing sponsorship opportunities for the event • Entering data and updating event databases • Checking local media and filing media stories relating to the event • Weekly progress meetings with Community Relations Coordinator • Other ad-hoc event requirements

Our ideal volunteer will have: • A confident phone manner • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Knowledge of cash handling policies • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail • Excellent Microsoft Office skills including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint • The ability to work both independently and as part of team • Initiative and enthusiasm • Commitment to the cancer cause and the mission of Cancer Council NSW

Desirable (but not essential) • Previous events experience • Previous exposure to the not-for-profit industry or working with volunteers.
