Good governance means complying with the law and legal duties, and carrying out the governance role. There is ‘good governance’ when charities have practices and procedures in place that help them to do their work effectively and openly, and when the roles and responsibilities of people in the charity are clearly understood. You would be making sure that everyone is following the practices and procedures that are in place and adjusting those that need changes made to them. You would be making sure that our volunteers have a safe workplace and that their conditions are lawful, fair, and clear to both the committee and volunteers. As a registered charity we must report to the ACNC each year. As part of your position you would need to endeavour that a report is drawn up, is accurate as well as ensuring the report is submitted on time.
