About us

Suited to Success Ltd (STS) is a not-for-profit community organisation helping people overcome barriers to employment.  Originally established in 2008, as an incorporated association in Queensland, STS completed the transition to a public company limited by guarantee on 22 August 2017 operating under its Constitution.

Our programs are delivered by a small, dedicated team of qualified staff and trained volunteers including counsellors, social and human services professionals and human resource specialists.  We provide programs and services from our premises in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane including the Dress for Success® Brisbane program for women.

The Board of STS is a working Board with up to 8 directors and a Company Secretary/Public Officer.  With less than 5 FTE staff, directors may have responsibility for a specific operational area working closely with management until responsibilities are transferred to a funded operational position.

Board appointments are covered in Section 8 of the STS Constitution which allows for up to 3 directors to be appointed by the Board for their particular skills and experience, currently in the areas of HR, Finance and Governance.

The position

At present, we require a Director, Marketing who will be responsible for advising the CEO on the  direction for marketing, design, public relations and communication.The role of Director, Marketing is critical to our success in gaining community and financial support to provide our services, through raising the profile and brand awareness of STS and our various programs including the international Dress for Success (DFS) program which is growing nationally.

This portfolio is responsible for guiding the CEO and broader team on the effective development, implementation and monitoring of communications and marketing strategies to cover all STS external and internal communications, growing our supporter base and awareness profile to achieve our financial targets and building a network of professionals and resources to support our marketing activities.

The Opportunity

  • Work closely with CEO to support the development, implementation and monitoring of marketing, public relations and communications strategies, aligned with the overall STS strategic plan
  • Develop strategies to leverage the benefits of the STS/DFS dual branding opportunity from national and regional initiatives.
  • Provide input, review and approve all marketing materials, publications, websites and social media platforms, ensuring compliance with STS and DFS brand guidelines
  • Advise on the promotion of STS, its activities and services, build brand awareness and increase the support and stakeholder base.
  • Advise on database management and the implementation of effective data analysis and segmentation to remain relevant and influential to the target audience·       Advise on media and communication channels including media releases, relationships with media and the maintenance of a relevant media contact list.
  • Develop appropriate metrics to demonstrate the effectiveness of marketing and public relations activities to build our support base and drive retail sales, attendance at events and third-party fundraising and donations
  • Establish a network of marketing and communications subject matter experts and professional volunteers to whom responsibilities can be delegated and to provide back-up and succession for this position

What You Will Bring

  • At least 5 years’ senior experience in marketing, public relations or communications sector using traditional and digital marketing channel
  • Experience in strategic marketing and design to add value to strategy development and contribute to effective analysis and decision-making on marketing and communications issue
  • Proven expertise in initiating and developing financially productive relationships to proactively sell the benefits of alignment with the STS and DFS brands
  • Well-connected with established business and social networks in the Brisbane area
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong communications
  • Demonstrated business acumen and instinct, able to quickly assimilate and analyse complex information
  • Ability to function effectively as a collaborative team member and cultivate positive working relationships
  • Committed to work within the parameters of our values
  • Prior board experience particularly in the not-for-profit sector with a working knowledge of director’s duties and responsibilities is preferred
