Key Roles include: • Participate as an active member of the childcare team and attend childcare team meetings (twice yearly). • As directed by the Childcare Worker, meet and greet women and children as they arrive. • Assist the childcare worker to provide a warm, caring and safe environment • Model positive behaviour and interact with childcare as directed. • Understanding of Trauma Informed work practices. • Build trusting relationships with Children and Mothers ability. • Confidentiality of all mothers and their children to be maintained. • Any concerns regarding child abuse to be referred to Childcare worker. • Clerical duties as required, e.g., Answer the phone and record messages, keeping brochure stands and community resources up to date and photocopying. • Assist Childcare worker in setting up room and packing away activities - tidy craft cupboard, cut up collage, easel paper or general tidy up. • Display artwork to enhance environment. • Tidy and restock, childcare room/area as required. • Under the direction of the Childcare Worker encourage the child to try out new activities and experiences • Instil a sense of security in children whilst in the childcare setting. • Be guided by the staff in the room regarding routines, behaviour management and appropriate activities. • Desirable to be able to sit on the floor or at a table to be at the children’s level. WHS: • No nappy changes to be carried out, only by Childcare workers • No lifting or carrying children (unless under the direction of the childcare worker), sit with child to comfort. • Maintain hygiene practices for personal use and children, e.g. hand washing
