Brunswick Neighbourhood House is a Not for Profit community centre providing education opportunities to our local community. It is a great place to learn, be creative and have fun where local people from all walks of life can find opportunities and support. We receive most of our funding from government grants and rely on the generous hard work of our volunteers.

We are looking for committed individuals who would like to work as a class aide with an inclusive class for participants with mild intellectual disabilities. We are looking for someone who is able to help our tutor by providing useful assistance without being prompted. The right candidates will be non-judgemental, supportive and inclusive. You will be a team player with a clear understanding of your responsibilities and be able to follow the lead of the tutor. Good initiative, assessment and judgement skills will be helpful in this role. Individuals with cooking, artistic or gardening interests would be viewed favorably as these activities form part of the class's program.

We are looking for long term volunteers who can assist for a year. We are willing to consider the creation of a small team with a roster of 2-3 people, to enable the volunteers to take holidays and other opportunities throughout the year. The general education and life skills class runs on Monday 10.00 am- 12.30 pm and the Arts & Music program with Mosaik Experiences runs on Monday 1.30 pm- 3 pm.

Our General Education and Life Skills class provides assistance with numeracy, literacy and basic life skills, including health and hygiene, healthy cooking, art and craft and gardening activities. There are also occasional excursions to the local library and art exhibitions, as well as incursions from a range of community services. The class size is small, and participant's abilities are wide ranging.The inclusive arts and music program with Mosaik Experiences is a fun session that includes rhythm, percussion instruments and dance with a Latin American flavor.
