Social isolation and loneliness affect an increasingly large proportion of Australia’s elderly population. This can negatively impact on mental and physical health. The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is a government funded program aiming to alleviate social isolation within our communities by pairing lonely people with volunteers who share a common interest and/or cultural background. Volunteers get the opportunity to change someone’s life simply by spending some quality time together doing something engaging. Like playing cards, watching a film, reminiscing, sharing a meal, reading, etc. Multicultural Care will provide all the training and support our volunteers might need. All we ask is you complete a free National Police Check and commit to at least 1 visit per week. Visits will usually occur in an aged care setting, or in the clients own home, in Inner West, South West, and/or South East Sydney.
