Do you enjoy driving? Do you like meeting new people? Are you an outgoing person? If you answered ‘yes’ to these three question the role of Volunteer Driver with Vision Australia could be for you.

Vision Australia’s clients sometimes need support to travel safely. As a Volunteer Driver, you would transport people who are blind or have low vision where they need to go. This could be to medical appointments, information sessions, to social groups or other locations.

Having safe travel makes it more likely that people who are blind or have low vision don’t miss out on medical appointments or the social occasions that make life good. You may also be asked to help out in other ways such as delivering equipment that is needed by a client.

You would use a car provided by Vision Australia and travel to locations around Sydney.

To be successful in this role you will have:·driving skills; time management skills; the ability to work with people who are blind or have low vision; social skills; good rapport with animals (as some passengers may have Seeing Eye Dogs).
