Vinnies SPARK

The SPARK Bright Sparks Club creates a fun learning space where children of refugee background are given an opportunity to build their confidence and develop friendships. We do this by providing a reliable and consistent after school program where primary aged children engage in a range of games and activities with peers and community members.

As a SPARK volunteer, you will play a central role in the operations of the Society.

The Volunteer Role

The SPARK Volunteer will perform a variety of tasks including:

  • Create a fun, creative and interactive space;
  • Provide a range of physical and creative learning activities for children; and
  • Support children to express and interact with others.

The volunteers we are seeking will ideally:

  • Be a people person – welcoming, encouraging and positive;
  • Be willing to work within the ethos of the St Vincent de Paul Society;
  • Be respectful of others and flexible in their attitude to work and the team;
  • Be reliable, committed and have good time management;
  • Be enthusiastic, energetic, positive and have a sense of fun;
  • Be patient, approachable and sensitive to cross cultural issues and challenges;
  • Have a team orientated attitude;
  • Must be willing to attend induction training on Wednesday 10 July 2019;
  • Must be able to commit to at least two school terms (6 months); and
  • Be willing to travel to Fairfield, Liverpool or Guildford.

No experience needed as in –house coaching and training is provided. We welcome those with previous experience teaching or working with children  to share their experience with their fellow volunteers.
