The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of Ashburton Community Centre.

Bring your financial skills to this role as a Treasurer and Committee of Management Member of the Ashburton Community Centre.  The Committee meet monthly on the 3rd Wednesday at 6.30pm at the Centre's offices.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

The Treasurer is elected each year following the Annual General Meeting. As well as contributing to the work of the Committee of Management, s/he has oversight of the financial administration of the Centre, reviews procedures and financial reporting, advises the board on financial strategy, and gives support and advice to the Executive Officer on finances generally. In consultation with the Committee, the Treasurer prepares the annual budget and provides financial reporting to monthly CoM meetings. Liaison with external accountants and auditors is also part of the role. The treasurer will be required to prepare monthly financial statements from online resources including preparation of budget to actual performance; to check and approve fortnightly payroll and other expense payments, and to be available on an adhoc basis to support the Executive Officer on financial issues, and for Committee activities as required.

Skills and Experience:

Whilst it is not essential that the Treasurer has accounting qualifications, a good understanding of accounting and financial matters is required. The Centre operates Xero software for its general ledger and has just implemented new office management software so its financial systems can be accessed remotely for financial reporting.
