A day in the life
The Travellers Aid Companion Service is a free service available to any eligible person travelling to, from or within;
- Melbourne and surrounding areas
- Seymour and surrounding areas
Whether it is for an essential appointment, a social activity or to attend an important family event, we offer trained Companion Volunteers who provide assistance along the way. Our volunteers are reimbursed for all costs for public transport use to and from your shifts.
Duties include
- Provide companion service assistance to and from Flinders Street, Southern Cross or Seymour Station to an essential appointment, a social activity or to attend an important family event
- Provide support and guidance and help build capacity and independence for Travellers Aid Service Users
- Provide Companion Service Assistance in the form of personal guidance and wheelchair assistance
- Observe and understand the needs of the public and demonstrate how we can assist
