Food Literacy Volunteer - Project Marion

  • Minimum commitment of one year commencing 2019
  • Must be available a minimum 3-4 hours per week within 2x6 week blocks.
  • Out of hours (weekend) work may be required 
  • Must live, work or study in the City of Marion and be under 30 years of age.

The program The Food Literacy program - FoodREDi aims to support vulnerable young people and groups of eligible participants to have a healthier lifestyle and improved well being. Project Marion will assist in the implementation and delivery of the Red Cross Food Literacy program, within the City of Marion. The opportunity As a Food Literacy Facilitator for Project Marion, you will engage with organisations and stakeholders to promote the FoodREDi program, source participants, make bookings, and tailor the program to the groups you're working with. You will demonstrate effective communication and facilitator skills to deliver a minimum of two programs and educate participants about healthy and affordable food choices. You will have a positive and pro-active attitude, be flexible, patient and complete tasks in a timely manner. The impact Through the implementation and delivery of the FoodREDi program, you will engage and build connections with communities and schools within the City of Marion. You will encourage sustainable healthy lifestyle changes and have a positive impact on participants' well being. A background in Community Development/Services or Nutrition/Dietetics is desirable.
