2 roles are available to suit someone who is reliable, compassionate and has good communication skills:

1. Youth in Detention Activities provide meaningful activities to young people detained in Alice Springs Youth Detention Centre that increase confidence, skills, and positive relationships. Current activities include arts and sport. A cooking program is currently being scoped, and there is room for volunteers to develop activities to suit individual skills. You will facilitate approved activity sessions, maintaining a safe and supportive environment for young detainees. Transport to and from the Red Cross Office is provided.

2. Youth Justice Support Volunteers assist young people to make informed decisions, ensure rights are upheld, and help to minimise the time young people spend in custody. This role suits people over the age of 18 who are good listeners and are able to remain neutral and impartial in the justice environment. As a support person you will assist young people facing a stressful and challenging situation.
