Administration Assistant Volunteer - Working with Children Checks - Hobart

Beacon Foundation
Logo for Beacon Foundation

Established in 1988, Beacon Foundation has grown to become a not-for-profit organisation that operates nationwide. We believe every young person has the right to hope, to a job, financial opportunity and the sense of personal success that comes with this. We work with schools, businesses and communities to help bring relevance to the curriculum and inspire young people to think about their careers long before they finish school. Focusing on areas of risk, we centre our attention on disadvantaged communities and areas of high youth disengagement and unemployment. Connect with your community by becoming a volunteer within our online team, providing administration and processing support in line with Working with Children legislative requirements. As a volunteer, you will contribute to Beacon Foundation’s Vision and Mission by ensuring the interaction young people have with Beacon Foundation volunteer mentors in our online programs is safe. The safety of the young people we reach, inspire and connect with is paramount.

Primary Tasks: • Support our online staff to maintain and update the Working with Children Check database for Beacon Foundation volunteers. • Assist with Working with Children Check processing and follow-ups (via email and phone) under the direction of Beacon Foundation online team members. • Monitor incoming Working with Children Check applications to ensure they are processed in a timely manner. • Respond to online volunteer queries in relation to the above. • At all times, adhere strictly to Beacon Foundation policies and procedures.

Based at our Head Office in Hobart, hours are flexible but would ideally include regularly scheduled blocks of time. Start date is April 2020 but could be earlier by arrangement.

Checks and Experience: • Experience using excel spreadsheets and customer databases is required • Satisfactory National Police Check and Working with Vulnerable People Check

If you are as passionate about our cause as we are and you are keen to get involved with the great work that we do, please submit an expression of interest that includes your availability, relevant skills, your Working with Children registration number (if you have one) and the details of two referees that can comment on your character.
