Talking with Aussies (TWA) is a volunteer program to help international students improve their conversational English. Our volunteers come from a range of ages and backgrounds, and include domestic students, retirees, and working professionals. (Please note: current university international students are not eligible to apply for this role as a volunteer)
The way that TWA works is simple: we match volunteers from the community with current international students of the University of Adelaide, for one hour of one-on-one casual English conversation per week, on the University campus. There are no set topics or times that you are required to meet – it’s all up to you. For international students, TWA is a valuable and memorable experience for international students to practice English, and is often a highlight of their time in Adelaide.
NOTE: In order to apply for this volunteer role, please express your interest. You will then receive an email with a link to the volunteer application form. Please fill this in and submit it. You will then be given details about the next in-person volunteer briefing session at the University.
Please be mindful that we will only respond to those that have submitted the online volunteer application form.
