A Not for Profit Organisation is looking for Shopping Assistance Volunteers in the Cumberland Council LGA. The areas Volunteers may travel to include – Fairfield, Girraween, Granville, Greystanes, Guildford, Holroyd, Mays Hill, Merrylands, Pemulwuy, Pendle Hill, Prospect, Smithfield, Toongabbie, Wentworthville, Westmead, Widemere, Woodpark and Yennora.

About The Role:

• Shopping Assistance Volunteers pick up customers from their homes and drive them to the shops (in their own vehicle)
• Assist customers in and out of car as required
• Assist customer with shopping, paying bills or other errands as required e.g. pushing trolley, reaching for items, carrying bags, putting bags in car and customer’s home or front door
• Shopping trips may also involve Volunteer and customer having a coffee/chat
• Time commitment of approximately 2 hours weekdays (between 9am and 3pm)
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with customers, staff and other volunteers
• Report any problems or concerns to your supervisor
• Take payment for journey and issue receipt to customer
• Ensure a reimbursement sheet is completed for the journey

About You:

• Must have own vehicle with comprehensive insurance
• Must have full driver’s license
• Commitment to working with elderly people and people with disabilities
• Commitment to work within the guidelines/legislation relevant to this position
• Commitment to maintain confidentiality
• Trustworthy, patient, reliable and willing to submit to criminal record checks
