Book Sale Assistants

Kew Historical Society

The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of Kew Historical Society Inc.

We are seeking a couple of volunteers to assist in setting up on the day before and packing away after our Quarterly Fundraising Book Sales in the Phyllis Hore Room at Kew Library. Sales for this year will be held on the 16th February, 17th May, 16th August and 22nd November. Set up of the room is Saturday 15th February, 16th May, 15th August and 21st November.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Moving stacks of chairs to a storeroom
  • Arranging mobile tables
  • Moving boxes of books on trolleys from two storage locations adjacent to the Phyllis Hore Room and placing the boxes on the tables under the direction of the Book Sale Coordinator

Skills and Experience:

  • Volunteers must be able to lift boxes of books weighing up to 15kg.
  • No previous experience is necessary
  • An ability to follow simple instructions and a cheerful disposition would be necessary

Benefits: Volunteers undertaking this role will enjoy the satisfaction of assisting a community group to continue a useful fundraising activity. Should they be interested in any of the books in the sale they will have an opportunity to make a selection and purchase books before the sale.
