There are an estimated 320,000 unpaid carers in Western Australia supporting family and friends with disability, chronic illness, mental illness or who are frail aged. Carers WA exists to advocate on behalf of carers and provides a range of services including counselling, advice and information, training and social support. Already boasting a number of innovative programs unique to WA, Carers WA continues to develop responsive initiatives; currently including a project to assist carers access paid employment whilst balancing their caring responsibilities.

The Constitution of Carers WA requires that the Board should comprise of a minimum of five members who have a lived caring experience. Therefore the candidates who either are currently caring for a family member or have done so in the past are encouraged to apply. Nevertheless, regardless of your background and experience, if you believe you can make a valuable contribution to the Board, irrespective of your background, we encourage you to nominate.
