Gift Of BreadVolunteers are sought to cook on the barbecue at a fundraising street food cart at lunchtime on Saturdays in Marrickville. The food varies each week and might include kebabs, sausages, bacon, eggs and a vegetarian option. Various ethnic street food is included from time to time. All funds raised are used to rescue fresh unsold bread from bakeries, slice and package it, and deliver it to those who need it.
You would operate a high-volume barbecue, cook food consistently and safely, and maintain a very high standard of hygiene and cleanliness. All equipment and supplies will be provided. This position is available on Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm, plus setup and cleanup time. Volunteers are asked to volunteer at least one Saturday every month, and to demonstrate reliability, punctuality and a positive attitude.
Main Responsibilities: • Cook a variety of foods simultaneously on a barbecue hotplate • Store cooked food hygienically and keep it hot and fresh • Maintain a clean and safe workplace
Skills Required: • Ability to handle and cook food in a safe and steady manner • A commitment to hygiene in the workplace • Ability to work co-operatively with others and with a minimum of supervision
Reasonable level of spoken English.
Minimum age is 18 years.
