The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of BASScare.

Become one of our Volunteer Visitors and we will pair you with a resident that you can meet regularly for a bit of a chat over tea or coffee, a walk in the fresh air, or enjoy working on puzzles, games or craft activities together. You can make a positive impact in a residents life by providing them with the opportunity to socialize with new people and develop friendship.

Tasks and Responsibilities The volunteer will be required to visit a resident they are paired with regularly for a bit of a chat over tea or coffee, a walk in the fresh air, a puzzle or game or a craft activity.

Skills and Experience The volunteer will be friendly and able to effectively communicate, easy going and willing to get to know a resident and form a friendship. The volunteer will also encourage a resident to be independent in their activities.

The benefit to undertaking this visiting role is the volunteer will develop communication and interpersonal skills, elder care skills and make a positive impact in a resident's life.
