About Us Churches of Christ in Queensland have a history of over 130 years of mission and care. We are one of the largest, most diverse not-for-profit organisations in Australia. We operate more than 200 services throughout Queensland and Victoria.

As a volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in offering many of the things that make life more meaningful for those seeking our care. Comforting a resident, helping out with activities, keeping things organised or even a warm smile for a colleague leads to a better environment for us all. It’s not what we do as individuals that make a difference but what we do as a team that counts. Whether your role is behind the scenes or you’re a face-to-face carer it’s the sum of our efforts that helps those in need. Every contribution we make is a great contribution and helps make the lives easier of those who need it most.

About the role Join us in assisting activities with our residents at our Aged Care Service in Southport. Duties will include assisting with the set up and help during the following activities: bingo, shopping trolley, ice cream trolley, BBQ's and the Men's Group just to name a few! You will also be able to provide one on one time with some of our residents who do not have family able to visit. If you are available once a week from Monday to Friday and would love to get involved with some of our activities then this is the volunteer role for you!

About you •You will have good interpersonal and communication skills •You will be patient, friendly and outgoing •Following instructions and working in a cooperative way will be paramount in this role •A desire to have fun will go a long way! •A weekly or fortnightly commitment would be ideal

Training Requirements Churches of Christ in Qld encourages all volunteers to complete training that is appropriate for their role. We do this to keep you and the people you will be supporting safe and healthy. Training occurs in a variety of ways and we will work with you to provide access and support.

When you accept a volunteer role, you will be asked to sign a Position Description that will clearly define the training requirements.

Have no fear, we make training as easy and accessible as possible!

Personal History Screening All volunteers supporting vulnerable people require a current criminal history check. In Residential Aged Care and Community Care there are strict legislative requirements governing this.

What if I don't have a Police Check? Don't worry - we can apply for one and cover the cost for you. As soon as you have passed the check, you will be able to volunteer.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
