About the role This volunteer position enables Land Of Welcome to • implement a friendship based advocacy strategy in support of new Australians including those seeking asylum • Optimise the organisation’s communication, and its efficiency and effectiveness within and outside of committee meetings. • Comply with the rules of incorporation Your contribution to the achievement of Land Of Welcome’s objectives will be recognized by a formal certificate of appreciation. A job well done may open new opportunities for you with people within our network who might benefit from your skills. The Secretary supports the organisation’s founder and president and is responsible for managing the administrative tasks required for compliance with rules of incorporation. The tasks: • Execute all administrative tasks required for compliance, maintaining the appropriate documentation, providing access to that documentation to other committee members, uploading financial statements and any appropriate notification on the website of Consumer Affairs Victoria; • Be one of three signatories to our bank account (2 needed for any cheque). • Facilitate internal and external communication • Attend six out of eleven picnics a year and three out of four board meetings

Skills required Good written and oral communication skills with diverse audiences Prior experience as Secretary of a Not for Profit is desirable. Able to use Microsoft Office suite of software A commitment to social justice and desire to make a difference

About the organisation Land Of welcome is a not-for-profit association of volunteers focused on making Australia a more welcoming community. In our vision of success, new Australians with a refugee or asylum seeker background, feel welcome and valued, and settled Australians have discovered new perspectives and are actively involved in positive change. Our core activities include monthly friendship picnics, volunteering in projects that facilitate the successful integration of new Australians, and generating funds for projects benefiting new Australians.
