The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of St Vincent's Hospital - St George's Campus

The role of an Angel volunteer is to provide person centred care to specifically selected patients. These patients have been referred to the program by staff. The aim of using volunteers is to reduce anxiety and provide comfort and assist nursing staff in the care of confused low-risk patients or patients who have behavioural and psychological symptoms associated with dementia (BPSD).

Tasks include:

• Assist with providing appropriate activity items to patients with BPSD
• Assist with monitoring and stocking the activity trolley (where appropriate)
• Assist in creating engaging and meaningful activities with patients with BPSD
• Assist feeding of selected patients according to staff instructions
