Supervising Driver - Waterloo, Woolloomoolo and Malabar, - # 72202
Weave Youth & Community ServicesThis volunteer roles supports young people to attain their drivers licence through providing the young person with the requisite supervised driving hours. Typically, young people who participate in this program do not have access to adults who are in a position to provide driving supervision.
The role involves spending a minimum of two hours per week on the road with a learner driver between 3.30 - 6.30pm Monday and Thursday during school terms. Both an automatic and a manual car provided. During this time spent with the learner driver, the volunteer is required to provide supportive guidance, encouragement and build appropriate confidence in the learner driver. The goal is to prepare the learner driver to pass their provisional licence test.
Minimum age 25 years and volunteers will need to undergo a Police check. Good driving record required.
Weave has implemented a COVID safe plan, and all volunteers will be inducted to follow these procedures.
Benefits: This is a rewarding role with measurable outcomes and provides an obvious and valuable benefit to the learner driver. It further provides an opportunity for a volunteer to develop a mentoring-type relationship with the program participant.
