Logo for MTC Australia

We are seeking people 18 years and over who have a good work ethic, are highly motivated and want to give back to young people in their community. This is a great opportunity to support young people to develop their skills, self-esteem, confidence and leadership skills. This will also be a good opportunity for your own personal development and resume.

Youth Frontiers is a youth mentoring program that works with young people in years 7-10 from schools across West and South Western Sydney. The program is designed to build young people’s skill, capacity and community connectedness. It includes the development and delivery of small or large civic projects of their choosing aligned to community themes.

If you're passionate about helping young people and have the willingness to share your life experiences and skills, you'll be the perfect mentor. Our mentors role is to support a local high school student (who will be matched to the mentor) through 25 hours of group and individual mentoring.

These hours will be conducted either face to face, telephone or online over two school terms. The aim will be to mentor the delivery of the mentees project and to work on developing their confidence, teamwork, leadership skills and community connections. The mentor will support and discuss their ideas for future plans for their post school journey. This support may include discussion on a career direction, further study, and other options.

If you would like to become involved, you will need to commit just 1-2 hours of your time per week over 6 months from end of February to June and support your mentee to develop a civic project that will be showcased at the end of the program. (Low time commitment, 25 hours over 6 months). Contact hours include a minimum of 10 hours face to face, the remainder can be through group activities, email, phone etc).

Volunteering is a great way to contribute to your community. It provides a variety of benefits, including making new friends, helping to build young people’s skills, sharing experiences and becoming a part of the local community.

If you are a natural mentor and are ready for the challenge, please apply today with a brief expression of interest

All successful volunteers will be required to undergo a criminal history check and provide a current volunteer Working with Children check . We appreciate your application and interest.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
