Telephone/Webchat Peer Support & Information Service - QLife Peer Volunteer
Living Proud LGBTIQ+ Community Services of WA
Living Proud seeks motivated individuals to join our peer based telephone peer support team and be part of the National QLife service.
QLife is Australia’s first nation-wide peer support and referral service for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer (LGBTIQ+) people, led by the LGBTIQ+ Health Australia.
Being a QLife volunteer peer supporter at Living Proud can be a challenging and emotionally demanding. However, it does offer the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to build a stronger and more enriched LGBTIQ+ community as well as directly assisting individuals in need of support and information. You also get to be part of a dynamic team of volunteers and there are many opportunities for further personal and professional development.
Becoming a peer supporter will require a significant commitment of your time and energy. The full training program includes the completion of the 10 week introductory course, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills training (ASIST) followed by a number of supervised calls and ongoing Professional Development. Peer Supporter training also represents a large investment of Living Proud time and resources and, as such, we are looking for trainees who will complete the course and become peer supporters with us for at least a year.
