St John's Phone Coordinators work as part of a rostered team. A minimum roster commitment would be one day shift per week.

While on shift, Phone Coordinators are responsible for the St John's Ambulance mobile, and must have it on them for the complete duration of their shift. This phone receives calls from the central St John's Communications Team - who are the ones that take the 000 calls. As a Phone Coordinator you will not be taking calls from people directly involved in an incident.

Once you have the necessary information, the Phone Coordinator will contact the volunteer ambulance crew that is rostered on and relay the details of the incident. You may also be required to alert back up crews to be on standby, and to relay information between the central communications team and the ambulance crew attending the incident.

At the end of your shift you will be responsible for passing the mobile and any relevant paperwork on to the next rostered Phone Coordinator.

Phone Coordinator shifts are available for either 9am to 5pm, or 5pm to 9am. An average of 2 - 4 calls can be expected each day shift.
