About us
Friends with Dignity is a national Australian charity dedicated to supporting individuals and families impacted by domestic and family violence.
We believe everyone deserves to feel safe, valued and supported as they rebuild their lives. Through our practical assistance programs, including our Sanctuary Program, we transform empty houses into fully furnished, welcoming homes, helping families make a fresh start with dignity, independence and hope.
Who are we looking for?
You don't need any previous experience! We're looking for people who:
- Are compassionate, reliable and enjoy helping others
- Love working as part of a team
- Are comfortable with light physical activity
- Have an eye for detail and enjoy creating welcoming spaces
- Understand the importance of confidentiality and respecting the privacy of the families we support
What's in it for you?
Volunteering with Friends with Dignity is about more than giving your time. It's an opportunity to:
- Make a genuine, lasting difference in the lives of families affected by domestic and family violence
- Meet like-minded people and become part of a supportive volunteer community
- Develop practical skills and gain valuable volunteering experience
- Experience the satisfaction of seeing an empty house transformed into a beautiful home
- Be part of something meaningful, where even the smallest contribution makes a difference
Time commitment
Our Sanctuary setups generally take place on weekdays, with opportunities varying depending on the needs of the families we support. We offer flexible volunteering opportunities, so you can get involved when your availability allows.
How to get involved
Once you've submitted your application, our team will be in touch to guide you through the next steps, including completing our volunteer registration, providing a current National Police Check and attending an induction.
Every family deserves to feel safe, supported and valued. With your help, we can make that possible.
We'd love to welcome you to the Friends with Dignity volunteer community!
