Volunteer Board Member

About the Board role As a Volunteer Board Member, you will work collaboratively with fellow Board members and the CEO to provide governance, strategic oversight and stewardship of the organisation. Board members are expected to: • Attend and actively participate in monthly Board meetings held online in the evenings. • Commit to regular attendance to support continuity and effective Board decision-making. • Read Board papers and prepare for meetings. • Contribute constructively to Board discussions and decisions. • Provide strategic oversight of the organisation's priorities, programs and development. • Monitor organisational performance, risks and progress against agreed priorities. • Support good governance, accountability and responsible decision-making. • Contribute professional knowledge, experience and networks where appropriate. • Work collaboratively and respectfully with fellow Board members, the CEO and organisational partners. • Maintain confidentiality and appropriately manage conflicts of interest. • Support the organisation's charitable purpose and long-term sustainability. Who are we looking for? We welcome expressions of interest from people with a range of professional and community backgrounds who can bring skills, experience, sound judgement and a collaborative approach to the Board. Experience that may be particularly valuable includes: • Governance and Board experience. • Health, primary care or community services. • Finance, accounting or financial management. • Legal, risk or compliance. • Business and organisational management. • Strategic planning and organisational development. • Fundraising, philanthropy or grant development. • Communications, marketing or stakeholder engagement. • Government, policy or advocacy. • Research, evaluation or university partnerships. • Not-for-profit or charity leadership. Previous Board experience is valuable but not essential. We are also interested in applicants who have strong professional experience and would like to develop their governance and Board experience while making a meaningful contribution.
