Volunteer Bookkeeper - Remote

Use your bookkeeping skills to help a Victorian charity support disadvantaged youth. Remote, 3–5 hours a week, Xero experience a plus.
About us
Lifestyle Markets Australia Inc. (LMA) is a registered charity that brings communities together through family-focused markets, fundraisers and events across Victoria. Every dollar we raise supports Kinds of Happiness (KOH), a charity that helps disadvantaged young people in regional and rural Australia through mentoring, farming programs and skills development.
Our team of volunteers is fully remote and spread right across Australia, and we would love to welcome someone with a head for numbers to look after our finances.
About the role
As our Bookkeeper you will work closely with our Director and executive committee to keep LMA's financial records accurate, up to date and easy to understand. You will be the person who helps the committee see where we stand financially and plan for what is ahead.
What you will be doing
- Maintaining our accounts and records in Xero, including recording payments, vendor site fees and other income
- Reconciling TryBooking event income into Xero after each event
- Paying bills and issuing invoices as they fall due
- Preparing and monitoring the annual budget with the committee
- Preparing financial reports for committee meetings and the AGM
- Preparing information for the annual audit and liaising with our auditor
- Supporting compliance requirements such as BAS, superannuation and PAYG
- Overseeing grant acquittals and providing financial data for grant applications
- Working with our Event Manager and IT team on the yearly Schedule of Fees, event set-up in TryBooking, and vendor compliance documents (insurance, permits and so on)
What we are looking for
- Qualifications and/or experience in bookkeeping or financial management
- Experience with Xero (TryBooking experience is a bonus)
- Confidence preparing financial statements and explaining them to people without a finance background
- An understanding of not-for-profit audit and reporting requirements, or a willingness to learn
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Honesty, discretion and reliability
The details
- Location: Remote (work from home)
- Time commitment: 3–5 hours per week
- Duration: 6 months or more
- Unpaid volunteer role
What we offer
- A welcoming, inclusive and diverse volunteer community
- Meaningful work that directly supports young people in regional Australia
- Flexible hours that fit around your life
- The chance to build your skills and grow your professional network
If you would like to put your financial skills towards a cause that makes a real difference, we would love to hear from you. Please apply through SEEK Volunteer with a short note about your experience.
