Education Program Coordinator - Gorokan

Working as part of a small education administration team and alongside the Society’s Committee, the Education Program Coordinator will help plan and coordinate the annual education program and support the smooth running of classes and workshops throughout the year.
This role will take about 4 to 5 hours each week. You choose the hours and days to suit your schedule!
You don’t need to be an artist yourself, but an interest in art and knowledge of the local arts community would be highly valued.
Key responsibilities
- Liaise with current and potential teachers regarding classes and workshops.
- Work with the Committee following the AGM to develop and confirm the Society’s education calendar for the coming year.
- Develop the annual timetable of classes, workshops and social groups.
- Liaise with teachers to gather and coordinate artist biographies, course information, content and materials lists.
- Work with the Society’s promotions team to provide information for advertising and promotion.
- Coordinate changes to teachers, classes and participant arrangements as they arise.
- Meet regularly with the Education Administration Team to coordinate ongoing classes, workshops and social groups.
- Provide updates and recommendations to the Committee regarding education activities, including opportunities for improvements or changes.
- Help ensure classes, workshops and social groups run smoothly on the day.
Supporting classes and workshops
The Coordinator will help ensure appropriate arrangements are in place for each activity, including:
- Welcoming and assisting instructors on arrival.
- Ensuring the room and work areas are appropriately set up and packed away.
- Welcoming and assisting participants.
- Ensuring instructor payments are arranged.
- Communicating relevant housekeeping information to participants.
- Ensuring the gallery and activity areas are left clean and tidy after each session.
What we're looking for
Ideally, you will have:
- An interest in art and the local arts community.
- Good computer and administrative skills.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team.
- A friendly and approachable manner.
- A willingness to attend Committee and/or education team meetings as required.
What’s involved?
This is a volunteer role working closely with the Society’s Committee and a small team of Education Administration volunteers. The time commitment will vary throughout the year, with greater involvement required when planning the annual program and coordinating upcoming classes and workshops, however it will mostly be 4-5hours per week.
